Robert Thompson, a resident of The Lakes Subdivision, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2015.
Mr. Thompson was born in Gilmer Station, WV. He worked as a construction Supervisor with Jones Intercable before retiring. Mr. Thompson was one of the founding members of The Solid Rock Baptist Church where he attended. He was a Mason, a Shriner with the Omar Chefs Shrine Unit, and a member of the Greater Burgess Community Association and he volunteered with the American Red Cross of Horry County. Mr. Thompson was also an US Navy Veteran of the Korean War where he was stationed on the USS Alameda County (LST 32). He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Bernice G. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Thompson of Asheville, NC and Steven Thompson of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Noah and Shelby Thompson both of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Denzil Thompson and his wife, Virginia of Belington, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
